Emma and Jon

Luxe details and a black, white and blush scheme took centre stage at Emma and Jon’s black-tie do.

Emma didn’t know Jon, a fellow doctor at the hospital where she worked, but she knew one thing for certain when a mutual friend itroduced them: “He was gorgeous!” she says. “The attraction was instant.” Eventually, Jon, 32, plucked up the courage to ask Emma, 28, out and three years later; he popped the question.

“You are my best friend, love and inspiration.” their personalised vows read at a civil ceremony in the Rookery Hall Hotel & Spa in Cheshire, on 19 June. “Saying our vows in front of everyone was lovely and really emotional,” says Emma.

When it came to choosing The Dress, Emma surprised herself. “I thought I’d go for a plain, slinky dress but when I tried on the Pronovias gown. with its lace detailing along the bodice and its ruffled skirt, I fell in love straight away.”

To complete the classic look, she wore a lace veil, Swarovski jewellery and Christian Dior shoes, while Jon was dashing in a James Bond-style tuxedo from Hugo Boss.

Style-wise, the couple knew exactly how they wanted their wedding to look. “A black-tie event with an elegant feel,” says Emma. “This inspired the black sashes and the ribbons on the cake. Then, when we found the vintage-looking bridesmaids’ dresses at Zara, we realised blush pink worked too.”

They worked shades of blush into the floral arrangements; think pink Sweet Avalanche roses for the bouquet and white peonies tied with black ribbon for the maids. Candelabra and silver bowls with roses and hydrangeas created a stylish backdrop on the reception tables.
